How to Start Using the RESTORED Quiet Time Method

Hello!

Today, I’m going to provide you with an outline of how to use the RESTORED Quiet Time Method. This outline goes into a little more detail than what is in the RESTORED downloads. (You can get the free downloads  HERE.)

Remember, there are many good methods for prayer and quiet time out there. RESTORED is just one possibility! God is not as interested in the method as He is in just being with you! Find what works for you and then be as consistent as you can with it. Over time, God will help you and you find wisdom and direction for your life.

Here are a couple of things to remember before you look at the outline.

When you see the outline and instructions, it looks a little overwhelming. You may feel there is no way you can do all this in one day. However, having lots of written resources such as prayer lists, scriptures lists, and the other resources I mentioned last week in this post makes it possible to go through these steps efficiently during your quiet time. It helps that several of the sections do not take much time. As you get used to the method you will also find that you can move faster.

I promise, my prayer life is very imperfect. Not a week goes by that I don’t have to adapt this method. There are days I fail to pick it up. And there are days when I do not get entirely through all 8 steps. God is not looking for us to make it through 8 steps in our quiet times. He is looking for a willing heart. He is looking for you and He wants to spend time with you. It’s OK if you don’t do every step every day.

These 8 steps are only suggestions and ideas for making a quiet time more efficient and intentional. It is meant to be adapted and used in different ways. Feel free to pick and choose and be creative in your use of this quiet time method.

You can pray anytime, even without your notebook! The prayers you say as you move through your day are just as powerful as the ones you say when you are going through this notebook! Add to your prayer power by having an attitude of prayer throughout your day.

I Thessalonians 5:17 (ISV) – Continually be prayerful.

If you look over the information in the outline and feel like a failure before you have even started working on it, I totally understand. I have been there so many times in my life. Those kinds of thoughts are the enemy trying to defeat you and keep you from praying. He certainly doesn’t want us having that kind of power in our lives. He’s going to feed us lies to keep us from attempting to go to God in prayer. Don’t let him do that to you! Remember:

James 5:16 (NIV) The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
